At first, it was just a cool new twist on a PC monitor to us, with a touchscreen keyboard/pen tablet. Nicely done, we started taking a look at the details, and started talking about how it would be cool to roll up and "stick" in your bag or purse...or stick it in your belt like a light saber. Yes, geekiness rules. We can't wait till Jayeshv starts building this thing!

1. How do you feel about becoming the grand prize winner of the contest?
I feel really thrilled and overjoyed to become a grand prize winner of the Big I Contest. I really enjoyed the opportunity to represent my idea for this contest, thanks to wacom community. It's honour to win this contest and at the same time gives me motivation to continue my designing.
2. How did you come up with this big idea? Did you think about some inconvenient problem?
I was just browsing the Wacom contest page, when I read about the Big I Contest, the first thing that struck my mind was an idea I had thought of 3 years back while seeing a program on television about Flexible Organic Light Emitting Diodes (FOLED). It's a display technology with flexible base as clear as plastic film which can be rolled up or folded, then I thought why not build a laptop with this technology, one with which we can easily roll our screen, that is easy to carry, lightweight, energy efficient and low cost. I am thinking of a future when every common man can have his own COMPUSTICK...

Comment from Wacom:
Environmentally conscious as we all are, we love great design, the Compair Bin has the makings of a cult following in its simplex design. Very well thought out, we liked the little touches--the cool button icons, the mood light--as much as we liked the ability to create environmentally friendly compost. But again, it was the design that won our hearts; beautiful!

1. How do you feel about becoming the grand prize winner of the contest?
I'm really happy to be the winner of the Big I contest...because it is so fun to create something for the future...for a better life...that can be accepted by others, and the prize is great too :) 2. How did you come up with this big idea? Did you think about some inconvenient problem?
Yes it is...the "Compair Bin" idea is from my inconvenience about the garbage problem and the small space where I am living now. That's why I wanted to create a multi-functional product that has a small footprint, and I want to support higher environmental awareness to our generation. The Compair Bin itself is made from recycled materials and it can recycle something with it. I called it "'recyclecycle' products". Imagine...no more useless leftover...smells nice...fresh air..., oh..oh..and next maybe a Compair Bin V2. Music Edition with a Sub Woofer at the bottom of it...:)) ... so you can dance for a better world...hahaha I really loved the Big I Contest...

1. How do you feel about winning 2nd place in the contest?
I was excited as this is my first time winning anything outside my school! I know this piece still lacking many artistic aspects but I'll work harder!
2. How did you come up with this big idea? Did you think about some inconvenient problem?
Since I have trouble reading Japanese texts in Mangas and video games (plus I think that only offbeat ideas can make scientific breakthrough), I came up with this headphone thing. Another form of inconvenience I found are from design sheets themselves. Some people - like myself - don't spend time reading many subtitles on the brochure. So in this piece I tried to convey the device's features through pictures and use less texts as possible.

I feel ecstatic about winning in the contest. Finally, I can have those drool-worthy tablets, which I used to stare at green-eyed in trade shows and shops. It's an achievement. It feels good that people recognize and appreciate my idea.
2. How did you come up with this big idea? Did you think about some inconvenient problem?
When I was reading the contest brief, I thought that in order for me to win, I have to come up with something that has relevancy, accessibility, availability, interest, and most importantly feasibility in today's society and technology. Energy consumption is a relevant issue, thus, giving birth to different innovations for reusable energy sources. Whilst, the sun is very much available & accessible by anyone, it'd be a good source of abundant energy--solar. Solar energy has been long used as energy sources for 'green' homes by placing large panels on their roofs. Also, people today are very much occupied and, thus, interested, with their gadgets--ipods, laptops, mobile phones, and so on. So, why not combine abundance & consumption for sustainable living? And so, Apollo SC is born. With everything mobile today, this is your gadget.
