We love the detailed characters and beautiful scenery. We can see there is a story within the artwork.
1. Please introduce yourself briefly?
I was born in Bangkok, Thailand. And graduated from Srinakharinwirot University, major! in Communication Design. At present. I'm a Render Artist of Anya Animation Company (www.anya.co.th). One of my work with Anya 3D production "4Angies" was telecast on TV channel 3 in Thailand.
Although, my work as a Render Artist is mostly dealing with 3D. But I love to paint as a hobby. I think that 2D can help developing my 3D skill in viewing, lighting, shading ,shape and color.
I love many types of art, especially Manga and Realistic. It comes to my mind mixing both Manga and Realistic together. But sometimes, the out come seems strange, not well combination. Most of my 2D works will pos! t in my blog (http://weera-van.blogspot.com). In case of full CG or good enough work, they are posted on Deviant Art (http://weerawan.deviantart.com) and CG Talk (http://weerawan.cgsociety.org)
2. Please tell us about the winning artwork, " We found her mom!" ?
At start, I though of a beautiful scenery and environment!, a combination of valley and waterfall in series of rows to build up perspective looking. I studied many pictures of waterfalls and monsters as reference. I though of environment in the evening to fix up time that the baby monster meet her mom in order to cheer up and impress all audience. I also used trees and crags to persuaded and catch them to follow the whole work.
When the artwork was completed. I still didn't like its pail color. Because, I am afraid to make it over saturate. And not satisfy with unnatural pose of the girl. But it's OK. and on time for the deadline.
3. Where did the idea come from?
"The Monster". As soon as I knew the subject. An inspiration was strange character of animal-mixing. This Monster, I imagined an amphibian, the monster that can live in wet land of waterfall. Then, I though of "Chameleon". But the out come of work look like a frog. I tried to put! the upper part as a hammerhead shark. But it didn't work.
As first draft, the content of work had only a monster and background scenery. An idea flash when I composed the trees. I felt that a baby monster was need. Here comes a framework and story that I wish it press in mind of all.

This is the strongest goldfish in the world! He looks like in a knight encased in armor. We can't take our eyes off his beautiful eyes and body.
Comments from the winner:
At first, I do not think I would win. I drew this as my favorite fish, plus Kanok's Thai. And then draw my imagination. Finally, paint with red and gold that was powerful. The most important this is my friend. Originally I wanted it not to contest Because it does not look a monster an! d does not look like a good work of others. But a friend gave me encouragement and confidence to me. And then told me to send. |
