A very colourful, detailed and unique masterpiece!
We really felt the joyful environment in the picture, as if we were also somewhere in there waiting for our presents.
We really liked that amazing detail all over and tiny little characters.
The "Reindeer" with those two trees is a great imagination.

1. Please introduce yourself briefly?
I am an art hobbyist, who, with the help of God, is now working in an industry related to art. I am a little self taught artist with a big dream. I studied food science, but fate won't let me walk too far from art. I begun my career during my education time as a part-timer artist, then a freelancer, which gives me so much opportunity to expand myself, and now I am a professional artist in an animation industry. I hope I could work in a bigger team, bigger project, with so many great people. Wish my luck! :)
2. Please tell us about the winning artwork ?
First of all I want to thank Jesus Christ for His wonderful help so I can finish the artwork with joy. I began to do the piece before Christmas day. It was difficult because I couldn't get a good concept. It was a lot of prayer, a lot of them. Trying to put problems away, feel the joy of the holiday season, ask for His help. Believe me, it works really well. It's Christmas, so the artwork was all about happiness, and you have to be emotionally happy to be able to paint it over the white canvas. It might be not a perfect work right now, but I will not stop learning for perfection.
3. Where did the idea come from?
The idea was came from when I went back to my hometown. It was some days before Christmas day. The city is a pretty big city, so all the people were always celebrate the Christmas day along with the New Year day. Then my sister says to me "There are three steps in human life; first, he believe in Santa Claus; second, he doesn't believe in Santa Claus; third, he is a Santa Claus." The I got this idea, in Christmas day, all dads are Santa Claus, there are a lot of Santa Clauses in Christmas day! Not to forget I add a picture of Jesus Christ just for a reminder that Christmas is not a mere celebration.

The Angle of the picture, it's amazingly perfect, feels like a 3D space.
Very detailed and unique character, the character's face is very expressive, we can read it out of its face.
The texture details on the chimney wall bricks are also perfect. The fire light from the bottom and moon light from top is a perfect blend and very natural.
Hope the Brace Orphanage Children's are happy to receive gifts from the Santa.

I'm from Miri, Sarawak (East Malaysia), I graduated from Lim Kok Wing University with a degree in Graphic Design and Multimedia. I'm currently working as an in-house graphic designer for a local university. Digital painting is actually a hobby and is mostly self taught from tutorials on the internet and books.
2. Please tell us about the winning artwork ?
This artwork is about the opposums who decided to cheer up the orphans during a cold snowy Christmas night. The character in this artwork is actually a character from a comic I've been working on. I also tried to implement what I've learned (2d+ 3d render) and lighting technique into this piece.
3. Where did the idea come from?
I got the idea after watching a short documentary about orphans in war torn countries.

We very much like the flowers and other details all over the illustration. Very detailed illustration and we can feel like we're in a dream. The tapir on the globe looks so cute but he may destroy the dream world...!

2. Please tell us about the winning artwork ?
After I heard about this contest I decided to execute an old idea in my mind and gave it a Christmas feel. The idea is about a tapir who give a christmas present to a rabbit who live in a glass ball by decorate her 'home' with christmas accessories. I chose tapir and rabbit, simply because I accidentaly saw those animals when googling some animal pictures for my job. I tried to make it colourful as possible, pretty different from my usual artworks.
3. Where did the idea come from?
I got the idea from glass balls (with a character inside it) sold at my mom's shop, it make me wonder how it feels to live in glass sphere. |
