Name: Chua Cha Hwang

Artwork Description:
This artwork is a caricature of myself. I drew my head bigger than my body and I chose one of my personalities that is "impatient" for this caricature. So I portray myself as having the qualities of "Flashman", a DC Comic character. My concept is to express my wish that I can be faster as he is. I used warm color as the main color mood. So I used a lot of flesh color and warm color to represent the power and energy of this character. I added some lighting behind to emphasize the speed. I used Painter9 artist oil to create this artwork.

Artwork Description:
This is the first time I used artist oil to paint. I found that artist oil is easy to blend the strokes and still maintain the drawing stokes. The other objects are blurred out of focus so that the contrast makes the main subject more outstanding and realistic. Artist oil is my first choice because I really enjoy using this medium. In addition, I deliberately maintain the strokes at the base color because I want to capture the movement of the ball game.

Artwork Description:
This is the poster for the Olympic Beijing 2008. The main point of this poster is "Focus, struggle, and moving forward". As the main figure (archer) shows determination, the wrestlers show struggle and the cyclists symbolizes moving forward. The statue behind shows the location of the games: in the culturally rich China. The red color also shows China's identity. The composition of this poster is more on using rhythm.

Artwork Description:
This is the "interior" of the CIEL city; I've design 3 different characters/creatures, so I've to design 3 different buildings for each character. This concept art is my props design for each building, to show how the character live inside in this big tree and the inner view of this CIEL city.

Name: Kevin Wong Kher Ping
Artwork Description:
My entry is done using Matte painting. This "monster's hive" work was part of my concept art assignment. I started off with traditional poster color paint to get a rough composition, light and mood.

After that I gathered as many references as I can and start doing the montage. I separated the work into 3 planes to paint the necessary details. I wanted to show depth in this work by creating the stairs and putting it all the way to the top of the structure.

I also wanted to create light that comes from the hive itself and it will be the only source of light (as the sun was destroyed in the story). So, I need to create a light to make it look more interesting.
