Summary of Wacom's pen display warranty

Wacom Co., Ltd. warrants the product, to the original consumer purchaser, including the main unit and accessories such as the AC adapter and cables, to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a period of one (1) year, from the date of original retail purchase, as evidenced by a copy of the receipt (proof of purchase) and registration with Wacom online within 30 days of purchase.

Upon discovery of a defect in the product, except in the software, within the warranty period, the warranty holder should contact the original place of purchase to obtain instructions for returning the product for repair or replacement. Wacom and its partners are not obligated to reimburse unauthorized prepaid shipment.

Regarding "dead pixels"

The easy explanation: Wacom's pen displays come with one of the industry's best reputations for quality, and each interactive pen display LCD panel is produced under very stringent quality standards. Although production techniques cannot guarantee an absolutely perfect LCD panel, Wacom does guarantee that our panels are compliant with ISO-13406-2 Class II standard.

The details: The term "dead pixel" is often used in regards to a dot on the screen that is stuck in one color. A pixel is made up of three sub-pixels that are red, green and blue. When any one of these sub-pixels is defective, this can result in a colored dot on the screen.

ISO-13406-2 (an ISO standard for defining pixel defects) outlines three types of defective pixels:

• type 1 = a hot pixel: (white dot) This situation occurs when all three sub-pixels are always on. (Class II allows 2 defects per million pixels)
• type 2 = a dead pixel: (black dot) This situation occus when all three sub-pixels are always off. (Class II allows 2 defects per million pixels)
• type 3 = a stuck pixel: (red, blue or green) This situation occurs when one or two of the sub-pixels are always on or always off. Stuck pixels may occur after our quality checks, and are known to disappear. There are several methods that MAY fix a stuck sub-pixel, but none of these methods have been tested by Wacom. Wacom will not be liable for any damage that may occur in attempting these methods, and such damage will not be covered under this product's 1-year warranty. Depending on the method of repair, the product warranty may become void. (Class II allows 5 defects per million pixels)
