One of Japan's, and indeed the world's, most gifted illustrators; Katsuya Terada's artwork creates a daring and precise graphic depiction of his own unique world.
What is so special about Intuos3, that Katsuya's work has come to rely on?
I've been using Wacom tablets since the very first model, so when the Intuos series was launched, I went straight to the store and bought one right away. I'm not advertising for Wacom or anything, but when I connected it to my computer, the Intuos series brought out all the potential in Corel's Painter. In the previous models, especially when drawing thin lines, I had to be very conscious about stressing the lines to get the thin-and-thick differences. Using the Intuos series is just as easy as a traditional pencil, making the entire drawing very natural.
I use Painter not as a substitute for another program but because I like the way the pen feels when drawing with it. And Intuos was the tool that brought out the best of Painter. So, I started using a tablet simply because it was useful, and now I see Intuos as becoming more and more like a natural tool. I usually scan in the original pencil-drawn image, then modify and edit that image with Intuos.
However, even when I create the original image digitally, I get the exact same thin line as the original pencil--that's the level Intuos is at now. I don't need to be overly conscious when working on a computer. From my experience with the new Intuos3, it feels totally different from the previous model. To those who are thinking "oh, I already have an Intuos, so I don't think I need a new one," I can definitely recommend at least trying it out because the performance is that much better.
